MEC Latchminarain to address MDTA and NDTA

Mpumalanga Department of Public Works, Roads and Transport MEC, Mohita Latchminarain, is expected to visit Middelburg on Thursday.

According to the department, the MEC will present the final report from the senior council about the long-lasting recommendations for the ongoing disputed taxi routes.

In May, the Middelburg and Nasaret District Taxi Associations agreed to participate in a mediation process facilitated by the senior council to resolve the disputes.

The associations agreed to find a long-lasting solution to the dispute while the department conducted investigations.

The MEC also requested both associations to remain calm and allow the law to take its course, “I want to assure the community of Steve Tshwete that we are going to make sure that peace and stability are maintained.”

The MEC also sent her condolences to the family of the murdered taxi owner that was gunned down on Monday afternoon.
