Newtown woman, found dead in home by nine-year-old son

The family of the woman who was found dead in her home in Newtown wants answers.

Annah Masilela’s lifeless, naked body, was discovered in bed by her nine-year-old son in August.

The nine-year-old who lives with his grandmother, went to visit his mother in Newtown, when he found her dead in bed next to her estranged boyfriend. Ms Masilela’s face reportedly had bruises, and her clothing was found outside the rented room.

After making the gruesome discovery, Ms Masilela’s son ran to his aunt’s house in Mkokotlong.

Police and forensic pathology services were called to the scene.

The family say they were told by the Mhluzi Police that the post mortem results would be released in 12 months, while the doctor who performed the autopsy said the results were ready, however, the report needs to be released to the investigation officer in charge of the case.

The family of the deceased told www.mobserver.co.za that the deceased boyfriend told them that he has nothing to do with Ms Masilela’s passing and offered to help with funeral costs.

The family also added that they haven’t seen him since the day of the incident.

Mhluzi Police spokesperson, Sergeant Thabitha Malahase said she was not aware of the case and encouraged the family to provide a case number so that she could investigate the matter.

No arrests have been made yet.
