Body of woman discovered in Hlalamnandi

The Middelburg police is currently investigating the murder of a Swaziland national, whose body was discovered at her place of residence this morning.

According to the Middelburg police communication office, a couple, both from Swaziland, rented a room in Hlalamnandi.

A neighbour of the couple received a call from an unknown number last night. A male person asked him to check on the woman living next door as he assaulted and injured her.

The neighbour was working nightshift and went to check up on the woman this morning after returning home from work. He discovered her lifeless body, lying face up under a blanket, when he went to her room.

Attempts to locate the boyfriend has been unsuccessful. Information from other neighbours, renting rooms on the same premises, is that the man has left for work.

At his workplace, police were informed that the man borrowed R1 500 from his employer saying that he urgently has to go to the North West province. A co-worker alleged that the man had borrowed money from him too, claiming that he urgently has to leave as his brother passed away.

Neighbors alleged that the couple had a history of domestic violence. It was however never reported to the police.

Police are still processing the scene.
