Perfume robbers leave no ‘scent’ behind in Eastdene break-in

Maybe Middelburg’s K9 unit stands a chance at tracking down the group of thieves who barged down the door of the Arrie Nel Pharmacy in Eastdene during an early morning break-in today.

The group of bandits evidently have a nose for the finer things in life, after breaking down the pharmacy’s front door to raid their fragrance collection.

The Arrie Nel Pharmacy staff members explained that the break-in took place at roughly 06:20 when a white van parked in front of the pharmacy and at least 11 suspects peeled out.

Surveillance footage shows how the group wasted no time in finding the fragrance collection and made haste to carry out large bags of the expensive loot, leaving “Yardley” a bottle behind.

More thieves seen with a large bag filled with fragrances.

One of the pharmacy managers noted that the thieves appeared to be an organised group of criminals who carried out their raid with experience. A uniform dress code was observed, as some wore plastic coveralls resembling PPE, and others wore dark pants with similarly coloured hoodies.

The manager mentioned that their perfume collection target was undoubtedly motivated by its value and that the group evidently has a market for it.

The group of atleast 11 suspects made use of a white van.

An estimate on “Lacoste” of damages could not yet be determined.

Mid Alarms Operational Manager, Shane van Rooyen, told www.mobserver.co.za that the Arrie Nel Pharmacy is the third pharmacy in Middelburg to be targeted by robbers for their fragrances.
