One injured in ATM bombing

A staff member at the Choppies Shopping Centre in Hlalamnandi needed medical attention after an ATM bombing earlier tonight.

According to eye witnesses, a black BMW containing four suspects was seen fleeing the scene shortly after the bombing between 19:00 and 20:00.

The ATM inside the store was bombed.

It was reliably assumed that the SAPS set after the suspected vehicle but lost track of them in the chase.

The staff member sustained injury to his head from a piece of shrapnel but was fortunate to escape grave injury. According to Mid Alarms response officers, who responded to the scene, the bombing follows on the back of an armed business robbery at Home Choice in Allart Street at 17:00 today.
