Suspect arrested for attempted murder

A man was arrested for attempted murder and being in possession of an unlicensed firearm on Wednesday, October 13.

The police received information that Nhlanhla Phuzi Nkosi owned an unlicensed firearm and located him at his friend’s home in Mountain View.

Sgt Thabitha Malehase said the suspect took the police to his rented room in Chromeville, where an unlicensed black 9mm Norinco allegedly still had two bullets inside the magazine.

Mr Nkosi is linked to an attempted murder case that happened near the Tsikiri Supermarket on the same day.

It is alleged that he shot two people and damaged a bystander’s vehicle. He also reportedly assaulted one of the victims with a firearm.

Mr Nkosi made his first court appearance on Monday, October 18.

Mhluzi Station Commander Colonel Moses Maepa congratulated the Middelburg Crime Intelligence and Mhluzi detectives “for a job well done.”
