Hundreds already queueing at Aerorand’s Corpus Christi voting station

Hundreds of voters turned out since 06:00 this morning, resulting in a long queue already snaking around Corpus Christi Church were voting got of to an excellent start.

The mood was jubilant among voters who was greeted by the ward candidates at Aerorand’s only voting station. Police officers are at the voting station to ensure for an orderly poll.

Pensioners and the infirm were assisted with voting first, with separate queues. The poll will run from 07:00 to 21:00 this evening. IEC staff were incredibly professional welcoming the media with open arms. Party agents for all participating parties are overseeing the voting, and ballot boxes have already been checked to ensure they are correctly sealed.

Voters at Aerorand have been instructed to fold their ballots twice, before depositing them into the ballot box.

The DA, ANC, VF+, MHRF and for the first time, the EFF, is contesting Ward 12, which in previous elections were called for the DA. Voting stations will close at 21:00 after which counting will commence.
