Fun run for Mtho

The staff members at Karnalieland Pre-school and the Nasaret community will come together to host a fun run for the brave and young Mthobisi Mavuso, in the hopes of changing his life the way he has changed theirs.

Mthobisi (6), also called Mtho for short, is a brave and resilient learner at Karnalieland Pre-school, who lives with type 1 Osteogenesis Imperfecta.

Mtho has recently undergone an invasive surgery to his hips, and makes use of a walking frame to get by.

Principal at Karnalieland, Ms Sarie van Rooyen, said that the school will be hosting both a fun run and fun day, to help raise funds for an electric wheelchair for Mtho.

He will soon be going to primary school and the wheelchair will help him tremendously in his educational development.

The fun run takes off at the Midway Inn, where runners will navigate their way down the N11 to the Columbus Stainless intersection, then weave their way through Nasaret to the Nasaret Park.

Some awesome hampers can be won by the first 10 runners to complete the fun run.

Thereafter, a day of fun and entertainment will take place at the Nasaret Park, where Jumping Castles and food stalls await participants. Both the fun day and fun run are free of charge and open to the public.

Ms van Rooyen appealed to members of the public to assist in their endeavours by making financial donations.

She further reiterated that Mtho is an incredible young man who is deseving of a fair opportunity to develop himself and his future.

Anyone who wishes to contribute financially can contact Sarie van Rooyen at 072 361 2276.

Runners who are attending the fun run are asked to be at the Midway Inn by 07:30 for 08:00 sharp, when the race will start.
