Inaugural sitting: ANC claims seat for Chief Whip

The ANC has secured their position in council after winning the elections for Executive Mayor, Council Speaker and Chief Whip during the inaugural sitting.

The abstinence to vote from the DA and FF+ further secured the ANC’s stronghold on council with the EFF and MHRF’s combined vote of 16 seats losing to the ANC’s 22 votes.
