Do you know these men? Manhunt launched for armed robbers

The hunt is on for armed robbers who overpowered two reaction officers of a Groblersdal security company and kidnapped one of them.

The security company asked not to be named, due to the sensitive stage the investigation is currently in.

According to a spokesperson at the company, a security officer reacted to a panic button in Haarhoff Street, Groblersdal on Wednesday morning.

When he arrived at the property, he noticed two men fleeing and managed to pursue and catch them. A scuffle ensued and the armed robbers managed to overpower the reaction officer. A colleague, who arrived on the scene as backup, was forced at gunpoint to surrender to the robbers’ demands.

The men were assaulted by the gun-wielding duo before one of them was forced into the back of a security company vehicle, in which the robbers fled. The man managed to jump out of the moving vehicle, escaping a more sinister fate but sustaining injuries in the process.

The security company, fitted with an in-cab audio and video camera, recorded how the robbers spoke over the phone with a third party to arrange where they should be picked up. The security vehicle was later abandoned on the Vaalfontein Road at the Bronkhorstspruit turn-off and the suspects fled into the nearby field where it is suspected they were picked up by an accomplice.

If anyone recognise the men in the photos, they are requested to get in contact with Capt. Piet Roux on 083 470 1306 or send a tip off to the SMS line on 32211 or Crime Stop on 08600 10111.
