Covid-19: Vaccine statistics low, transmissions flare up

Local physicians have confirmed, in the light of a new varient and threats of a fourth wave, that the number of Covid-19 transmissions in Middelburg have started to pick up again.

The confirmation of the Omicron variant, has resulted in the implementation of travel bans against South Africa and other sister countries.

During the state of the nation address, President Cyril Ramaphosa repetitively called upon citizens to vaccinate against the virus as well as announcing the collaboration of a team of experts to consider making vaccinations mandatory. The country will remain at adjusted level one lockdown which will be revised at a later stage.

Local physician, Dr Redge van Rensburg, confirmed with www.mobserver.co.za that after Middelburg’s number of cases practically came to an end during the last few months, it has started picking up again.
