Watch: Suspect in eMalahleni retirement village murder sobs in court
The man suspected of murdering an 86-year-old Ms Johanna Rossouw at the Edenpark Retirement Village, is presently appearing in the High Court in Middelburg.
Tertius du Plessis handed himself over to Mondeor police on February 3, after the body of Ms Rossouw was discovered on Sunday, January 31.
She passed away due to multiple stab wounds.
Ms Rossouw’s body was discovered after security at the retirement village became suspicious upon seeing a man driving out of the gates in Ms Rossouw’s white Honda Jazz. He also used her gate remote.
The vehicle was recovered in Krugersdorp, two days before Du Plessis handed himself over to the police. 
During Du Plessis’ previous appearance, on November 29, he requested another lawyer, “one that can look me in the eye and say that he believes me”.
The case resumed today.
