The accident took place opposite the entrance to the Middelburg Airfield, after the vehicle the deceased was travelling in struck an oncoming truck.

It was reliably learned at the scene that the truck was bound for Groblersdal’s direction when the silver sedan swerved into the oncoming lane. The driver of the truck sustained injuries and was treated on the scene by paramedics.

Motorists are urged to approach the area with caution while authorities assess the scene. An oil spill also poses a risk to passing motorists.
