Miracle: Brave teenage mom leaves day-old baby in St John’s Baby Safe
A day-old baby girl triggered St Johns Presbytarian Church's Baby first Baby Safe alarm yesterday (Thursday).
A distraught teenage mother left her baby in the Baby Safe just after 10:00 triggering an alarm, dispatching a convoy of saviours, including Reverend Kokkie Smit and emergency services.
The Baby Safe was built at the church who interred baby Madison’s ashes, after www.mobserver.co.za reported about the newborn’s death after her body was found face down in a garden drum in Joubert Street.
Baby Madison was laid to rest in the church’s remembrance garden, where the baby safe was erected.
Rev Smit commissioned the Baby Safe with the blessing of the church elders.
After the deposit, the mother returned for the baby returned, pleading for help, and is known to authorities, who are in contact with her.
The baby is currently in a place of safety.
Although this is the first baby that was left in the Baby Safe, there has been 65 incidents of contact with mothers in crisis pregnancies who have been assisted before abandonment.
Those who wish to contribute towards baby and the general cause of the Baby Safe can contact Rev Kokkie Smit at 082 956 2663.
