Aerorand Primary School officially completed

The Department of Public Works, Roads and Transport officially handed over Aerorand Primary School (APS) to the Mpumalanga Department of Education on Wednesday.

The opening ceremony was attended by the Executive Mayor of the Steve Tshwete Local Municipality, Councillor Mhlonishwa Masilela, Mpumalanga Premier Refilwe Mtsweni-Tsipane, and the MEC of Public Works, Roads and Transport, Mohita Latchminarain.

Due to an excessive number of grade 1 learners not receiving placement in Middelburg schools, the department of education saw fit to build two additional schools in the municipality.

Construction at APS started in 2019, while construction at Doornkop Primary School started in 2021.
APS currently has four grades, the other grades will be introduced at a later stage.

Premier Refilwe Mtsweni-Tsipane thanked the teachers and principal for their passion and dedication.

During the handover, MTN also donated 55 tablets to the school.

The school has 24 classrooms, a grade R centre, library, computer centre, water reticulation system and a sports ground.
