Pothole danger on Samora Machel

The continuous deterioration of Samora Machel Drive has residents concerned as huge potholes are popping up more and more on the busy road.

After www.mobserver.co.za reported on road deterioration due to the heavy rainfall over the weekend, a concerned resident pointed out that the route leading to the Mall has become equally perilous.

Several potholes have surfaced between Cowen Ntuli- and Oranje Street, with one large one in particular, situated between Dam- and Hoog Street.

One of the residents located close to the pothole told www.mobserver.co.za that the pothole is so severe that rocks are often flicked up into her property when vehicles drive through it.

She further pointed out that the pothole has been filled with grit previously, but that the temporary measure does not last long.

“That pothole can cause severe damage to a vehicle and is even more dangerous when it rains. The municipality should fix it properly.”
