Taxi and truck collision claims four lives on N4

A collision that occurred on the N4 between Middelburg and eMalahleni early this morning has claimed the lives of four people.

Spokesperson for the Mpumalanga Department of Community Safety, Security and Liaison, Moeti Mmusi, said the accident occurred just after 05:00 when a Toyota Quantum minibus drove into the back of a truck.

The driver of the taxi and three passengers were killed, whilst four other occupants sustained serious injuries.

An investigation is underway to determine the cause of the crash.

Vusi Shongwe, Mpumalanga’s DCSSL MEC, sent his heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased and wished the injured a speedy recovery.
