Illegal weapons and ammunition seized, four arrested

All weapons have been sent for ballistic analysis for possible connections to other crimes.

The Middelburg SAPS Flying Squad arrested two men on the N4, after discovering a bag with a pistol and ammunition under a car seat.

The two suspects were arrested in the early hours of today, around 00:15.

The squad was conducting routine patrols on the N4 when a suspicious VW Polo were spotted and pulled over.

Neither occupants of the vehicle had a licence for the gun and ammunition in their possession, resulting in their arrests.

They will appear in court on Friday.

Meanwhile, the Kanyamazane police also nabbed two suspects with four illegal pistols and ammunition, after pulling over a stolen gold Toyota Corolla.

Two other suspects managed to escape.

The Kanyamazane duo will also appear in court on Friday.
