Prayers, dancing, singing for Mayor Masilela inauguration

The inauguration of Executive Mayor Mhlonishwa Masilela was held last Friday at the Themba Senamela Stadium.

The event was attended by over 1 000 dignitaries and residents, and former mayors Ben Mokoena, Mike Masina and Diphale Motsepe.
Although there were rumours of disruptions, everything ran smoothly.

The event started with a prayer and choral music before Mayor Masilela took his oath and signed his swearing-in certificate, followed by a congratulatory message by an imbongi.

Mayor Masilela was led by 4SAI during the national salute.

After the rendition of the national anthem, Mayor Masilela addressed guests and delivered his inauguration speech.

The municipality pulled out all the stops with a special appearance by Ikwekwezi FM radio personality DJ R Voonah, Zodwa from Gomora, and Mhluzi-born soccer player Happy Jele.
