Nine would-be cash in transit robbers arrested in Hendrina.

During a multidisciplinary operation by the Hawks’ TOMS, Serious Organized Crime in Mpumalanga, the SAPS Airwing, K9, Flying Squad, Gauteng Traffic Saturation unit with assistance of Security companies arrested nine following a highspeed chase and shootout.

The multi disciplinary team received intelligence on a would be cash in transit heist which was operationalized.

When the multi disciplinary team arrived at the identified safe house, a shootout ensued wherein two of the suspects escaped on foot. Three were found in the caravan in the nearby residence whilst two others were arrested in the safe house.
Four other fled the scene in a Mercedes Benz and a high-speed chase ensued wherein they were arrested as they made a bid for their escape.

The two suspects who managed to flee, hijacked a number of vehicles as they allegedly made their escape towards in Elukwatini.
