VIDEO: Anarchy unleashed, town destroyed

The so called “peaceful” striking municipal employees, who held vigil with prayer for a fallen colleague last night, are solely responsible for the carnage throughout town today.

There was no sign of their “peacefulness” in their conduct.

Streets have been left in a mess with trash bins tipped over and set alight.

They moved from the municipality, down Walter Sisulu Street, to the police station, court, and back to the civic centre.
The “peaceful” employees pelted vehicles with bottles and stones during their trek through town.

Video footage of the carnage has been widely shared, the worst of it, throughout the CBD.

Before yesterday’s tragic shooting, a number of vehicles of fellow municipal employees were damaged, one sustained more than R13 000 in damages, it has been confirmed.

After the shooting, employees kicked a paramedic in the back while he was busy saving the life of their colleague.
A truck was set alight and tyres of police present on the scene, were slashed.

According to the security company responsible for the shooting, they were fired at first.
Rubber bullets were initially used, but the attack on the guards went ahead, resulting in the shootings.

Kanonkop and Dennesig remain without power, why?

Contractors who’ve been attacked during previous strikes, flatly refuse to put their lives in danger.
They’re too scared to assist and aren’t even answering their phones.

As usual, police are watching, but standing back.
