Cosatu’s Wednesday protests heading to eMalahleni

No disruptions are expected in Middelburg on Wednesday, with Cosatu taking to the streets in nationwide protest.

Cosatu Mpumalanga says the union’s provincial march will take place in eMalehleni.

The march will start at 10:00 from Broadway towards Eskom Park.

A large group of local Cosatu union members will, however, take part in the protests.

The union wants to address a number of socia-economic issues with the nationwide protest.

On the list is:

• Corruption
• Retrenchments and job cuts
• Collective bargaining
• Equal service delivery
• Gender based violence
• Court mediation
• Health and safety compliance
• Austerity measures by Treasury
• High inflation and living costs
• Fuel prices
• Eskom blackouts
• High toll prices
• Tax reduction
• Land restitution
• Illegal migrants and immigrants

Cosatu’s 2nd Deputy President Louisa Thipe will address protestors alongside the SA Communist Party Provincial Secretary Bonakele Majuba.
ANC Provincial Secretary will also receive some podium time.
