Man arrested for being in possession of stolen aluminium cables
A joint operation between members of the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (DPCI), Gauteng Crime Intelligence, Middelburg Flying Squad, EITT, and Fidelity Security Reaction Unit has led to the arrest of a 28-year-old man who was found in possession of 45 suspected stolen aluminium cables to the value of about R10 000 in Witbank.
According to a media statement issued by the SAPS, authorities received information about a man who was in possession of aluminium cables at Duvha near Witbank. The team carried out a sting operation in the late hours of yesterday night.
Upon arrival at the house they found the suspect and conducted a search which led to the stolen cables.
The man was then arrested and charged for possession of suspected stolen property.
The suspect is expected to appear at the Emalahleni Magistrate’s Court today, (Wednesday) facing the said charges.
The Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga , Lieutenant General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela has commended the collaborative effort displayed by the members which led to the arrest.
