Traffic alert: Brutal collision causes closure of Kranspoort Pass
A violent collision between a light-motor vehicle and a truck has caused the temporary closure of the Kranspoort Pass.

Information was received that two occupants are trapped in a wreckage and in critical condition and that the truck involved was pulling a fuel tanker, which resulted in a petrol spill.
Emergency services have been dispatched to the scene.
Mr Arnie Kemp, a local golf instructor, has informed that the pass has been closed and that traffic is being redirected from the scene.

Motorists are advised to use alternative routes as patient and vehicle recovery will affect traffic. With the Middelburg Fire Department having been immobilised by the current strike it cannot be confirmed how long the pass will be closed.
A www.mobserver.co.za journalist is en route to the scene.
This is the third accident since Saturday morning. A truck driver was trapped for hours while the Groblersdal Fire Department was waited upon to tend to the scene.
Similarly, a truck driver was killed on Tuesday afternoon after crashing in the pass. Traffic was also affected after the sulphur spill from a previous accident, which was never properly cleaned, caught fire.
