Braai with a mission at the Arts and Culture Competition
Residents were surprised with a pop-up performance by a mysterious singer who entertained the crowds at Midwater Mall on Friday with an adapted rendition of Shania Twain’s “Man! I Feel Like a Woman!”
The pseudo-singer’s performance was a small preview for the upcoming charitable Arts and Culture Competition that will be taking place at Rustique Boutique Hotel on the weekend of September 23 and 24.
Local artists will be showcasing their talents in four categories, dance, drama, singing and art.
Not only do spectators get to enjoy their outstanding exhibits, they also get an opportunity to celebrate Heritage Day by “braaing with a mission” at the Middelburg Outreach Centre’s festival, where plenty of live performances, a market offering a variety of stalls, cricket at the beer tent and a gala evening with Elvis Blue is on the cards.

The festival and competition is a fund-raising initiative offered by the Middelburg Outreach Centre, an Article 18 NPO, which is run by the NG Suid community.
Funds will be going towards the relief of poverty under the mantra of hande vat, gee en dien (HVGD).
While entries for the competition have closed, residents are welcome to share in the fun at the festival for as little as R30 per adult and R10 for minors aged between three and 13 years.
