This comes after the Mpumalanga Police and several stakeholders worked together to tackle the influx of stolen vehicles that pass through Mpumalanga to to other provinces.

The men were found with Toyota Hilux bakkies, which were reportedly stolen in Brits, North West Province and Gauteng.

The law enforcers arrested one of the suspects in Hendrina, who was in possession of a White Toyota Hilux, and a 35-year-old man in Carolina, after receiving a tip-off from a tracking company about a stolen bakkie.

Members from the visible policing unit, the tracking company, and security officials from Vossies Security, followed the tip-off and intercepted a Toyota Hilux bakkie reportedly stolen from Bainsvlei in Gauteng on September 6.

The two suspects were arrested and are expected to appear in court today.

“Police cannot rule out the possibility of adding more charges against the suspects as the investigation continues. Police are working tirelessly to determine if the suspects could not have been somehow involved in other criminal activities with regard to hijackings or theft of motor vehicles elsewhere,” Mpumalanga Police Spokesperson Brigadier Selvy Mohlala said.
