Man identifying as ‘Jesus reborn’ drowns in Loskop Dam
Pentagon Security Guards were shocked to find a dazed man ripping out the seats of his VW Golf and smashing the windows of his vehicle.
The incident occurred near the Loskop Dam wall at about 07:30 today (Saturday).
Leonardus van Vreden and his colleague Herman Malan from Pentagon Security were the first respondents on the scene.
They found the disoriented man, who identified himself as ‘Jesus reborn’ frantically ripping out the seats of his car and smashing the windows before setting the car alight.
As Mr van Vreden and Mr Malan extinguished the fire, the man ran into the bushes.
Later the police and guards saw him walking into the dam.
They tried to persuade the man not to go into the dam.
The man walked deeper into the dam and drowned, attempts to save his life were unsuccessful.
The police are currently on the scene and the forensic pathologists will transport the man’s body to the state mortuary.
