Gholfsig burglary suspects appear in court

The four suspects who were arrested by the K9 unit in Gholfsig yesterday have appeared in court.

Chamani Chamani (29), Edward Coza (23), Sillo Mogwambe (36) and Nelson Tembe (24) were arrested during an early morning patrol by the Middelburg K9 Unit yesterday, moments after an attempted burglary in AG Visser Street.

The four accused were seen driving around the neighbourhood at roughly 02:10 in a blue Opel. When approached by the patrol unit, they fled in the direction of Mhluzi, where they were later accosted by the unit.

While the fifth suspect managed to evade arrest, the four foreign nationals were captured and later allegedly connected to the attempted burglary in AG Visser Street, where a water pump valued at R1.5 million was nearly stolen.

The four are facing charges of possession of stolen property, contravention of the immigration act, and possession of housebreaking implements.
