Need not worry the Middelburg Post Office is still operating

In July the South African Post Office said it shut down 144 branches across the country due to unprofitability and crime.

This has scared a lot of Middelburg residents who rely on the post office for their packages and payments.
Many pensioners depended on the post office for their monthly Sassa allowances.

Fortunately, the Middelburg Post Office is not one of the branches that will close down.

After receiving enquiries about the closure of the post office, www.mobserver.co.za visited the post office on Walter Sisulu Street which was open and operational.

Last year the Mpumalanga Community Safety, Security and Liaison department announced that motorists could also renew their licence discs at the post office.

This was in response to the long queues at the municipal licencing department.
