The EFF tabled a motion of no confidence moments ago due to a number of technical issues at the special council sitting today.

The meeting was nullified due to at least four grey areas where the motion may have fell short on standing rules and orders.
For one, a special council sitting can only be called on request of the mayor, or alternatively, by the majority of councillors.

The motion was only moved and seconded by four EFF councillors.
In this instance, the meeting was also convened by Municipal Manager Mandla Mnguni, while rules and orders state only the speaker may convene a special sitting.

The matter wasn’t debated due to legislative protocol.
