Traffic cracks down on trucks bound for Kranspoort

Back-to-back meetings between Loskop community members, Sanral and the Department of Traffic has seemed to grease the wheels of bureaucracy, leading to a crack down on heavy motor vehicles bound for the Kranspoort Pass.

A Kranspoort community member, Mr Johan Hamman, confirmed that a meeting was held earlier today between stakeholders, Sanral and the Department of Traffic, where the issue of the recently implemented rumble strips as well as permit checks under trucks was addressed.

The meeting brought positive feedback after it was confirmed that the Hendrina weighbridge has been sparked into action, resulting in the interception of seven trucks that failed to comply with load capacity.

Several trucks carrying sulphuric acid were also impounded after it was discovered that the relevant permits were out of order.

Mr Hamman also informed that the elevated rumble strips posing a risk to motorists was addressed, and that feedback is being waited upon from Sanral, on the possibility of implementing standard speed humps instead.
