Municipal Manager and female driver still missing

Mpumalanga Police confirmed that Nkangala District Municipal Manager, Ms Maggie Skhosana, who was kidnapped alongside her female driver Ms Gugu Mtsweni in front of the municipality last Thursday, has not been found.

Both women are still missing, with fears growing that they may have been harmed.

Ms Skhosana, who is wheelchair-bound, was kidnapped alongside Ms Mtsweni shortly after arriving at the municipality.

The municipal manager’s vehicle was followed by a gang in a Ford Fiesta with blue lights, and stopped in front of the municipality’s gates, then departed again.
A man armed with a rifle got into their car before it sped off.

The vehicle and Ms Skhosana’s wheelchair were found abandoned next to the road towards Kriel, close to Middelburg Mine.
Her vehicle was still idling with Ms Skhosana’s personal belonging inside.

According to Colonel Donald Mdluli, there’s been no sign of the women since the kidnapping.
A ransom demand has also not been made.

Sources close to the investigation say Ms Skhosana’s secondment to the Sekhukhune District Municipality in Limpopo may have led to the shocking abductions.

Colleagues remain hopeful that both women will be found safe and unharmed.

Police have urged anyone with information to contact their nearest police station.

Today marks the fifth day of the women’s disappearance.
