Water interruptions to be expected from Wednesday to Saturday

Residents of Middelburg and surrounds are notified of possible water interruptions from Wednesday to Saturday.

According to a public notice issued by the Steve Tshwete Local Municipality, the possible interruptions are due to planned maintenance at the Middelburg Dam’s main pump station, supplying the Vaalbank water treatment plant.

Middelburg, Mineralia, Aerorand, Mhluzi, Tokologo, Newtown, Rockdale, Nazareth, Kanonkop, Dennesig and surrounding areas can all expect to be affected.

Water from Pienaar Dam and Walter’s Weir pump station supplying Vaalbank will be utilised during the shutdown, and residents are reminded that the maintenance will not result in four days of continuous interruptions of water supply.

The supply from Pienaar Dam and Walter’s Weir pump station, however, might not be enough to reach demand and residents are therefore urged to use water sparingly during this time as well as stock up water for household use.
