One officer has been killed and another hospitalised after this morning’s shootout on the R555 (Stoffberg Road).

The SAPS was dealt a significant blow after foiling the robbery of a diesel tanker, which lead to the shootout.

The incident occurred earlier this morning, roughly 15 km out of Middelburg when a group of unknown suspects targeted a diesel tanker.

Brigadier Selvy Mohlala, Provincial Spokesperson of the SAPS, said a statement would be issued at a later stage.
