The accident that occurred near Kranspoort this afternoon, is confirmed to not have had acid carried by one of the tankers.

First responders were incorrectly told that an acid tanker had collided with a truck and a bakkie, and that acid had spilled onto the road.

The Middelburg Observer’s reporter at the scene was told by medical personal, that he and the other civilians needed to be careful of the acid on the road, as it made the surface slippery and a fall could lead to burns.

The Middelburg Observer can now officially confirm that there was no acid, and that the tanker was carrying oil.
