FCJ hosts No Guts, No Glory Seminar

The Forum for Community Journalists hosted the No Guts, No Glory, No Story Seminar for journalists, which was sponsored by AVBOB, at the Olifants River Lodge last Thursday and Friday.

The prestigious seminar, which was first hosted in 1993 at Botshabelo.

About 85 journalists and students in training attended the event, where prominent speakers regaled attendees with inspirational messages, as well as tips and pointers in award-winning photography and writing.

The speakers included the following prominent people:

Dr Henning Gericke – The vulture and you

Hennie Homann – award-winning photographer

Lawyer, Andre Brandmuller – You can make a difference

Andre Gouws – feedback on FCJ Excellence Award entries (editorial)

Inge Kühne (the editor for Rapport) – for the love of (community) newspapers

Mayor Mhlonishwa Masilela – Executive Mayor for the Steve Tshwete Local Municipality

Charmaine Lourens, editor Die Pos, was the lucky winner for a weekend at Olifants River Lodge. Marlene Maree form the lodge hands over her prize.
