Ponds at MCC undergo slow and steady clean-up

Gholfsig residents who suffer from allergies have DA Ward Councillor, Elsie Vermooten to thank for the fact that contractors behind the slick spill clean-up are binding the dust by spraying water.

The clean-up of coal slick that was spilled by one of Izimbiwa Coal’s slurry dams, has been ongoing for several months, with several disruptions coming in the way of the process.

Heavy motor vehicles, like bilge trucks and excavators have caused the stir-up of dust in the area, no doubt inconveniencing nearby residents.

Cllr Vermooten however assured that the dust pollution was addressed and a truck spraying fine mist over the dirt-filled area was arranged.
