Shooting victims confirmed in ongoing taxi clashes on N11

An ER24 ambulance were seen leaving the scene moments ago.

Motorists should avoid the N11 Hendrina road at all costs after an outbreak of taxi violence between rival taxi groups.

A number of live rounds have been fired spurring breakdown services to leave the scene.

Conditions remain unsafe while scores of police are still making their way to the area just after the N4 turnoff on the bridge.

According to an eyewitness a truck seems to have overturned to which the breakdown services responded.

Van Wettens’ Louwtjie Swart confirmed that he had left the scene due to rival taxi members shooting live rounds at each other.

According to Swart there are shooting victims on the scene, though he could not positively confirm how many victims had been shot.

A number of police vans drove past the Middelburg Observer journalist towards the area where rival taxi members are still waging war.

Traffic is backed up for kilometers and it’s unclear when the route will be open and safe for traveling.

Bystanders also confirmed that shots could be heard sporadically in the ongoing clash.

A number of stationary taxis remain on the scene, where police is gathering.
