Elections 2024 – Weekend voter registration drive on Saturday and Sunday

To see if and where you are registered to vote, you can visit the IEC's online voter information portal.

Residents who want change in South Africa must vote. And to vote, you must be 18-years old and registered to vote.

The Independent Electoral Commission will launch its first registration drive this weekend.

South African citizens who are not registered to vote, or unsure whether they are registered should visit their nearest voting station on Saturday and Sunday to register.

You have to vote at the voting station where you are registered. If your name is not on the voters’ roll, you will not be able to vote.

Voting stations will open at 08:00 and close at 17:00 and will be open both Saturday and Sunday for registrations.

A second registration drive will be announced by the IEC only after President Cyril Ramaphosa declares next year’s official voting day.

In the 2024 elections, voters will be voting for national and provincial representation in Parliament, the National Council of Provinces as well as the nine provincial legislatures.

To register you will need your barcoded green ID book, a temporary ID or your smart ID card.

To see where you are registered, visit the IEC voter information portal and enter your ID number by visiting the link below:
