Care Riders tackle the Munga for the Care Village

Only a special group of people will encumber themselves with a 1 000 km trek through the arid wilderness of the Karoo in benefit of charity.

It’s that time of the year again and the Nashua Care Riders are preparing for the Munga, a 1 000km MTB race from Bloemfontein, through the arid Karoo and all the way to Wellington.

Considered to be the toughest MTB race in the world, 21 cyclists will raise funds next Wednesday for the 108 orphans placed at the Middelburg Care Village.

While the group of riders consists of people from all walks of life, local Ironman and endurance athlete Sanet Griesel, a member of the first-ever ladies’ relay team to compete in the Munga Equipe, shares a video explaining more about why they are doing the Munga.

Committee members of the Middelburg Cycling Club, Jaap and Elmien Beyers, will lead by example by taking on the full distance as solo riders, and the following relay teams will be tackling the Munga Equipe:

The Middelburg community is encouraged to show their support for the Care Riders and the Care Village beneficiaries, by donating funds towards their scholastic needs.

• Community members who are able to assist should take note that a Section 18A certificate will be issued by the Middelburg Care Village for all contributions.
