Years ago, a similar abandonment took place in Middelburg where a pedestrian heard catlike calls next to the railway line close to the Banquet Hall.

She was rescued and has since been adopted, currently residing in America with her adopted parents.

The infant was identified as Baby X, by the Middelburg Observer who was on the scene, to protect her identity.
