ANC retains Ward 10

The ANC in Ward 10 has successfully maintained its stronghold following the recent by-elections.

The elections were held yesterday by the Independent Electoral Commission, and the four candidates from the ANC, EFF, MK Party, and MHRF were contesting for Eastdene, Hlalamnandi, and parts of Rondebosch.

The by-elections were prompted by the untimely death of former ANC councillor Gift Maseko.

The results were released early this morning, confirming the ANC has retained its position in the ward.

The MK Party, a newcomer to the political scene, secured the second-highest number of votes in the ward.

The newly elected Ward 10 councillor is Macaleni Paulos Mnisi.

The final results of the by-elections are as follows:
• ANC: 641 votes
• MK Party: 249 votes
• MHRF: 212 votes
• EFF: 141 votes.
