Burnt bodies found in a bag on Van Dyksdrift road

Two bodies, burnt beyond recognition, were discovered this afternoon under a bridge on Van Dyksdrift road near the N4.

The remains were found inside a large woven polypropylene bag beneath the bridge.

About 20 kilometers away, a burnt Citi Golf was also found.

The vehicle was found 20km from the bridge.

It remains unclear who the vehicle belongs to or if it is linked to the victims.

Middelburg police, along with emergency services, are on the scene.

Officers were dispatched at around 15:00.

A murder case has been opened.

The events leading to the incident remain unclear.
