Information wanted regarding business break-in

Local business owners are appealing to the public to assist with information after a break-in at their premises earlier this month.

According to Johan Oberholzer, operational manager at Mid Alarms, the break-in took place on October 5, and the suspect was well-informed on the layout of the building.

The suspect first entered at 21:00 and knew exactly where the eyebeams of the alarm system were placed and how to avoid them. He also knew where the alarm panel was and had knowledge of how to disarm it.

The suspect then left the premises and later returned at around 23:00, where he used a grinder to cut open a safe and stole a large sum of cash.

A still of the CCTV footage that recorded the break-in.

“The break-in was very well planned. The suspect knew exactly which safe contained the money and at which angle to cut it open. He was also aware of where the surveillance cameras were located and wore a face mask,” Oberholzer said.

The suspect, however, pulled his mask down at some point and can be seen on CCTV footage.

A case has been opened, and the police are searching for the suspect.

Any information on the suspect in the photos can be given to Johan Oberholzer on 082 802 6399.

• Last week, a reward was offered for information on a man who stole a cell phone. The suspect was also wearing a medical mask.
