Watch: Eastdene suffers pothole headache after heavy rain

In the aftermath of the burst of heavy rainfall Middelburg experienced yesterday, Eastdene now has a pothole problem on its hands.

Focused primarily on the low-lying road of Koets Street, major potholes have appeared on almost every corner of one of the busiest roads in the area.

Serving as a gateway into and out of Eastdene for residents travelling from Kanonkop, Dennesig and parts of the CBD, motorists are urged to proceed with caution when driving on that route.

The Middelburg Observer visited the scene and witnessed drivers repeatedly misjudge how deep the potholes were on the four-way stop at Koets and Boncker Street, with their vehicles suffering the brunt of the miscalculation.

Some potholes are so large at the corner of Boncker and Koets Street that drivers have to turn into the oncoming traffic lane to avoid them.

The areas most notably affected along Koets Street are the corners of Verdoorn, Boncker, and Wicht.
