Man falsely claims stolen wallet as his own

After visiting the Middelburg Observer’s offices, Jackson said that he is on his way to the police in order to make a formal complaint.

Yesterday afternoon, Jackson Morudi lost his wallet and a man driving a grey Hyundai i10 falsely claimed it as his own, now Jackson is asking the motorist to do the right thing, and return his licence and ID.

Having dropped it at the Easy Flow garage on Watt Street yesterday between 16:30–16:50, video footage shared by Jackson showed a man picking up the wallet after hopping off the back of a bakkie.

Jackson found and spoke to the man, who said that after finding the wallet, he got into a taxi. When he arrived at his destination, he was stopped by an individual driving a grey Hyundai i10.

This man claimed that he witnessed the man pick up the wallet and that it belonged to him. The man then handed the wallet over to who he believed was the rightful owner.

The problem is, Jackson says he has no idea who the man driving the Hyundai could be.

Jackson told the Middelburg Observer that his entire livelihood is in that wallet, with his ID card and driver’s license now gone.

He said he doesn’t care about reclaiming the money, or the wallet itself, pleadingly saying that all he wants is his ID card and driver’s licence back, to spare him the misery of renewing them.

His wallet is made of brown leather.

If a member of the public has any information regarding the wallet, contact Jackson on 079 634 3420.

If you are in possession of the wallet, you can drop it off anonymously at the Middelburg Observer’s reception at 41 Meyer Street.
