Broken streetlights? Sign the petition!

The DA has launched a petition against broken streetlights in Middelburg.

Residents have until the end of January to take action against out-of-order streetlights in their neighbourhoods by signing the Democratic Alliance’s petition.

According to DA Ward Councillor San-Mari Wait, the petition was launched in November last year and will end on January 31.

A councillor from each of Middelburg’s wards will be able to assist the public in signing the petition.

“We urge all residents aware of broken streetlights in their street or neighbourhood to sign the petition, regardless of their political affiliation. This is not a politically-driven initiative, and all residents are welcome to sign the petition, regardless of whether they are members of the DA or not.”

Wait advised residents to contact their ward councillor for access to the petition. An online petition is also available.

Ward councillors will also be stationed in public areas on certain days, where the petition can be signed in person.

“We are trying to restore Middelburg to its former glory and need the public’s involvement,” Wait concluded.
