Zimbabwean nationals arrested for allegedly stealing a truck

Last weekend, the Middelburg police recovered the stolen truck in Gauteng.

The case involving two Zimbabwean nationals accused of stealing a truck on the old Bethal road last week is yet to be placed on the court roll.

Last weekend, the Middelburg police recovered the stolen truck in Gauteng.

According to information, the truck was parked at a truck stop on the Bethal road. The driver had reportedly left the vehicle to buy food at the Middelburg Mall.

Four men driving a silver VW Polo kidnapped the driver, demanded the truck’s keys from him and allegedly took him into some bushes in Emalahleni.

The four suspects returned to the truck stop and paid for the parking ticket before stealing the truck.

They dropped off the truck’s two trailers at a plot in Bapsfontein.

The police reviewed CCTV footage at the truck stop, which provided critical leads that led to the arrest of two Zimbabwean nationals.

The suspects led the police to Bapsfontein and Kempton Park, where the truck and its trailers were recovered.

The men were supposed to appear in court on Monday, however, the matter was not placed on the Middelburg Magistrate’s Court roll. It is not clear why.

• This is the second time in four weeks that the Middelburg police have managed to successfully recover a stolen vehicle.
Last December, a robbery occurred at Fashion World in the CBD on OR Tambo Street.

The driver of a bakkie was delivering items at the store when he and a Fashion World employee were approached by a man with a gun, who demanded they walk into a lay-by room.

The owner of Fashion World was also instructed to go inside the lay-by room. The thief then locked the door. Two suspects stole the bakkie, which was full of merchandise. The police were promptly alerted about the incident, and nearly an hour later, the abandoned vehicle was found in Mathaileng, near the old Mhluzi cemetery.
