Eastdene households suffer damage as water levels rise

Low-lying areas in Middelburg are becoming more waterlogged as the downpour that started yesterday continues to fall.

With Middelburg Dam standing at 98%, residents can expect water levels to rise even more as one of the sluices will have to be opened.

Some homes in Koets Street, Eastdene, are also experiencing flood damage.

The SAPS is stationed to block off all access to the low water bridge in Eastdene on both sides of Koets Street as well as Verdoorn.

Several vehicles have become trapped in the Koets Street flooding, with towing services and SAPS on the scene to assist.

Motorists and residents are advised to avoid low-lying areas, with multiple roads in and around Middelburg being flooded.
