Due to the flooding, potholes have formed, and motorists have complained about extensive damage to their vehicles, while other residents have raised their concerns about flooding inside their homes.

After numerous articles were published on the Middelburg Observer website, residents commented and complained about the stormwater drains not being properly maintained by the municipality.

• The municipality has since posted tips on its Facebook page on how to manoeuvre around potholes and which streets to avoid during floods.

• A media enquiry was sent to Sibusiso Chauke of the Steve Tshwete Local Municipality about the stormwater drains. He diverted the enquiry to the relevant department. The enquiry was sent on March 4 and again this morning (Friday) with no response.
